All that glitters is gold, literally.
Super Orgasm looked like the perfect companion to those nights in EDC, glowstick jewelry, and oh-so-played-out fairy costumes with it's bountiful gold sparkle. And really, I actually don't mind the way glitter looks. I think it can be fun, yet a little bold. It's the rather fussy application that goes along with the fallout and sometimes-gritty texture. I have a few other NARS blushes with glitter that don't seem to have these issues (i.e. Angelika, Oasis, etc.). It is probably important to mention, though, that Super Orgasm has chunkier sparkles than those previously mentioned blushes. It's just too bad because I wanted to give Super Orgasm a fair shot against the rants about this blush. It looked to have quite a bit of potential.
Close up of Super Orgasm
The glitter in Super Orgasm is quite ornery. It doesn't stay where you would like it to, and it seems to fall off the brush during application. You're left saying, "Hmm, it's not as glittery as I thought." Then you say, "How the hell do I have glitter on my nose?" upon closer inspection. The glitters invalidate any smoothness that the blush has, causing it to apply unevenly on the cheeks. Super Orgasm is, unfortunately, the worst performing shade in the NARS' permanent blush line. If this is the first blush you tried, do not let that steer you away from NARS blushes; all the other shades perform way better. I promise.
Super Orgasm swatch -- 3 swipes
It's pretty fascinating how blush shows differently on different people, even though your skintone may be similar to theirs. Naturally, it's been compared numerous times to the infamous Orgasm. Some bloggers have mentioned that it's more intense, whereas others say it's pinker. I found that Super Orgasm and Orgasm are pretty much one in the same in shade. The exception was the chunky glitter found in Super Orgasm. It was hard to capture the true color of Orgasm below, but it isn't as cool-toned as the picture shows below. Overall, I was hoping Super Orgasm would be a more IN YOUR FACE Orgasm, since Orgasm is a "safe" color for me. It really ended up being a Lousy Orgasm to me. Hah!
Super Orgasm (L) vs. Orgasm (R) -- both with 3 swipes.
On a side note: I remember the brouhaha that occurred during Orgasm's rising popularity when I first got into makeup. I'm not sure what NARS' marketing team was thinking when they named Super Orgasm because, well, there isn't anything super OR orgasmic about it. The name is just lamely comical, IMO.
